The Rhodesian Ridgeback has a build that is consistent with breeds of above-average physical capabilities. Its frame is lean and well muscled. Its back is sturdy and somewhat sloping. The straight front legs and well-defined, angled back legs enable the breed to move with quickness and agility. The neck is average in length and extends to high-set shoulders. Its head and muzzle are long. There is a prominent stop. The ears are set just above eye level. They are average-sized and fold downward. Its coat is thick, short, and shiny.
