The Laekenois is a sheep dog with a distinct appearance. The breed is average in size, but is built with strength and power. The coat can vary in length and texture, but is generally thick and soft at the top layer. The bottom layer of its coat is more harsh. It has a black mask. Its head is long and its muzzle is average in length with a significant stop. The eyes are also average in size. Its ears are set high on its head and are smaller than average.
