It has well-developed muscles, but its torso is straight and lean so that it can achieve great speed and power. The head is large. The ears are medium-size and hang at the sides of the head. The facial features are dark. As its name implies, the short coat of the Catahoula Leopard Dog features patchwork of two typically contrasting colors. The tail is hangs low and curls upward slightly.
