The Beauceron is a well-developed breed. Its body is in complete equality so that there are no exaggerations. It is only somewhat longer than it is tall. Its head is long with ears that are set high on the head and v-shaped. Some types may exhibit cropped ears. From the head extends a level and muscular neck. A proud, broad chest extends slightly at the front of the body. The legs are muscular; the frontquarters straight while the hindquarters are set at an angle. The tail hangs low and curls slightly upward. The coat is shiny, but coarse and dense.
