Description
The Yorkshire Terrier is a breed with an elegant coat and small build. Its coat is probably its most distinctive feature. It is very shiny and soft to the touch. The coat falls straight across the torso, chest, and ears. The coat reaches the ground below the feet. Its head is small in size with an average size muzzle. The ears on this breed are set high and are triangular in shape. It has a neck that is medium in length and extends at an angle to its straight back. This breed has legs that are short and in proportion to its body. Both front and back legs are positioned straight under the breed. Its tail is docked and the breed carries it erect.
Temperament
The Yorkshire Terrier is well known for its spunk. It is a great watch dog that works hard to protect its family. It tends to bark excessively. As long as the breed is introduced to visitors, it is usually very friendly. Otherwise, it may be reserved. It does well with gentle and well-behaved children. Unless it is raised with them, it may be aggressive with other dogs.
Height and Weight
The Yorkshire Terrier is about 6-9 inches tall and weighs 3-7 pounds.
Health Problems
There are some health conditions associated with the Yorkshire Terrier. The breed may develop patella luxation. It is also susceptible to developing conditions of the eye.

The Yorkshire is most suitable for indoor living conditions and can adapt to just about any environment. The breed will remain active when kept indoors.
