| Description |
| The Whippet has an appearance that is both elegant and athletic. In line with its general appearance, its limbs are long and lean. The thighs are well defined. Its front legs, when viewing it from its profile, are straight. The hind legs are wide and well angled. The neck is elongated and very angular as it transitions to the long and flat shoulders, and straight back. The breed has a head that is small with a long muzzle that is somewhat pointed at the base. It has a vague stop and a prominent, black nose. This breed's coat lies close to its body and is very short. |

| Temperament |
| The Whippet is usually a good companion breed for families. It is bred a hunter and may not coexist peacefully with small pets that live in its household. If this breed will live with other pets, it is a good idea to raise the Whippet and the other pet together. It is a good companion for all children, but tends to do best with children that are school age. The breed is a highly effective watch dog. |
