Description
The most noticeable characteristics of the Patterdale Terrier are its smooth coat and its large ears that fold down, giving the breed an expressive look. The breed has a small yet well-proportioned body. Its back is medium straight. A neck that is elongated and well-muscled extends to the back. Its chest is neither too broad or too long. It stands on front and back legs that are straight. Its tail is average in length and is typically carried high above the back. Its coat is thick and smooth.
Temperament
The Patterdale Terrier has a typically Terrier feistiness. It is very courageous, despite its small size. It makes a good watchdog and guard dog because it will not become easily intimidated by an intruder. It will seek to protect its family and their property. This breed has a lot of stamina and will keep up with children. In addition to being a hardy playmate, it is a hard worker.
