Description
The Laekenois is a sheep dog with a distinct appearance. The breed is average in size, but is built with strength and power. The coat can vary in length and texture, but is generally thick and soft at the top layer. The bottom layer of its coat is more harsh. It has a black mask. Its head is long and its muzzle is average in length with a significant stop. The eyes are also average in size. Its ears are set high on its head and are smaller than average. The ears are very pointed, but only at the tip. An extended and muscular neck flows to square shoulders and a level back. Its limbs are long and strong.
Temperament
The Laekenois is a good working dog and pet. It is friendly with everyone in its household. The breed is naturally protective and will make a good companion for children. It enjoys playing, but is usually more serious. Guarding is natural for this breed. It will bark to alert its family of guests. Training is important for this breed. Training them can help to eliminate some potential bad habits, such as aggression and dominance. This breed does better when it is able to interact with its family.
