 BEAUCERON
| Description |
| The Beauceron is a well-developed breed. Its body is in complete equality so that there are no exaggerations. It is only somewhat longer than it is tall. Its head is long with ears that are set high on the head and v-shaped. Some types may exhibit cropped ears. From the head extends a level and muscular neck. A proud, broad chest extends slightly at the front of the body. The legs are muscular; the frontquarters straight while the hindquarters are set at an angle. The tail hangs low and curls slightly upward. The coat is shiny, but coarse and dense. |

| Temperament |
| The Beauceron is strong both physically and mentally. Easy to train and responsive to discipline, it is devoted to its family and rarely displays unacceptable behavior. Seeks to please. The тАЬworkerтАЭ blood in it makes it tireless to responsibility. When used as a pet, this same behavior is exhibited in its efforts to guard its ownerтАЩs property. However, dogs outside the home are in more danger than human intruders. This breed is not all work. Loves to also play and learn tricks. Will get along fine with children and other family pets, however, being raised with them is the ideal situation. |

| Health Problems |
| The Beauceron is generally a healthy dog. Its size makes it susceptible to hip dysplasia and gastric dilatation volvulus (GDV). Some types may also develop the eye condition progressive retinal atrophy (PRA). |

| Ideal Living Conditions |
| Ranch-style living or any environment with large open spaces is recommended for the Beauceron. Not recommended for apartment living. If placed outside, the area should contain a secure fence. |

| Exercise |
| High-octane exercise will suit the Beauceron just fine. If kept on a leash, should be set loose on a regular basis. Lengthy walks or jogging sessions alongside its owner or other family member are also great ways for it to obtain exercise. |

| Grooming |

| The Beauceron has either a bi-color or tri-color coat; black and tan or black, gray, and tan. In both cases black is the dominant color; the other color existing in patches throughout the body. |
